ATTENDANCE
NO need to call. Please excuse your student’s absences through your guardian myDSD account. Absences can be excused after your student has been marked absent and must be submitted within 3 days of the absence. Teachers would appreciate an email notice as well when possible. You can find teacher's emails on our website under our staff list. LINK
PICK UP AREAS
Parents, as you make after-school pick-up arrangements for your students, please be aware of the designated pick-up areas to help keep everyone safe and traffic flowing smoothly.
West Side -
(Carpool Pick-Up) This is our designated carpool area. Parents may drive through and have their student quickly enter the vehicle. Please do not have students walk through the parking lot to reach your car.
East Side - Parents can park in the church parking lot and wait for their students to come to them. We do have a cross guard to that parking lot entrance to ensure those walking home are safe when crossing.
Front of the school -
Parents may park along the street or in the parking lots east of the school and walk over to meet their student after the dismissal bell.
For student safety, crossing guards are stationed on the east side and east/north side of the school. Please encourage students to use the designated crosswalks and follow crossing guard directions and crossing times.
Students who live west of the school should not be crossing the street after school. Instead, they should use the west-side carpool area for pick-up or ride the bus home.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe during dismissal each day!
Robotics Team Applications
If your student is interested in joining one of this year’s Robotics Teams, applications are now being accepted through Friday, September 4th.
Applications can be picked up in front of Mrs. Chiba’s Computer Lab. Space is limited, and teams are open to 5th and 6th graders. 4th graders are also welcome to apply, although space for 4th graders might be limited.
Practice Schedule
Robotics practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30–4:45 p.m. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Chiba at pchiba@dsdmail.net.
6th grade PARENTS
Hello parents of sixth graders!
Every year we have an assembly to get students and community excited about Knowlton’s Fall Festival. The sixth graders have the opportunity to participate in the assembly by doing a dance. The practices for this dance will be Sept 1st, 3rd, 8th and 9th from 7:45-8:45am.
The Fall Festival Assembly is Friday, September 11th @ 9am.
POLICY REMINDER: Phone and Smart Watch - LINK
Cell Phones: Must remain in backpacks throughout the entire school day. They may only be taken out and used once school has been dismissed.
Smart Watches: These are permitted to be worn, but only for the purpose of telling time. If a student uses a smart watch to call or text during school hours, they will be required to store it in their backpack until the end of the day.

If you do not want your student included in photos or videos posted on our school social media accounts, please visit the school office to complete a Media Opt-Out Form. Please note that this form must be completed each school year.
