Orchestra
I’m Mrs. Silva and I am the Orchestra Teacher at Knowlton Elementary School. In addition to teaching at Knowlton, I also teach at four other elementary schools, Farmington Jr. High, and Farmington High School. I have been playing the violin since I was in 6th Grade and I have been teaching both privately and in the public schools for almost 20 years.
In the Davis School District every elementary school has a 6th Grade Orchestra Program that is taught by a licensed and certified string teacher. This is a very unique opportunity for 6th Grade students to learn an instrument, gain life-long skills, and make new friends.
Music is one the best ways to help students receive a well-rounded education. The action of playing a musical instrument has the most powerful effect on the brain that no other activity can duplicate.
